About Me
During my training to be a physical therapy assistant I saw two groups of people - patients that seemed to recover well and those that really struggled. Some of the common things from the ones that did well were that they moved their body a lot before their injuries, they didn't subscribe to the SAD (standard American diet - highly processed and pre-packaged) way of eating, they had a solid support system or community to help them through the tough times, and most importantly their self-esteem seemed to have a strong foundation.
I should mention that at the time, while mostly healthy and in my late 30's, I was not one of those people that did any of these things considerably well. My doctor's visits elicited yellow flags to slow down my progress toward being pre-diabetic, my body felt 'meh' from being mostly sedentary and working at a restaurant to get through school, I did not have a strong sense of community where I felt free to be me, and I had struggled a lot with self-esteem for as long as I remember. It was probably no coincidence that I started a workout and healthy eating challenge during this time that changed everything. Within a few weeks of regular exercise, healthier eating, and getting great support I began to see my self-confidence sky rocket and wanting to take care of myself more fully.
Finally being accepting of help, I started to believe in myself and jumped at a chance to start helping others find their own path to feeling better and healthier in all aspects of their lives. I finished the 2nd year of the physical therapy assistant program while also completing the Health Coach training with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and getting re-certified as a massage therapist. It has been no smooth ride to be sure. At long last facing the work and finding healing of old wounds to heading toward feeling whole every day has been trans-formative and allowed me to recapture my zest for life.
I started Healing Tree Wellness and Bodywork shortly after graduating those two programs. Making physical changes has led me to making mental, emotional, and spiritual changes. It is ALL about the daily practices and choices we do and make. Less about the destinations and more about the journey and process. Whether through massage and bodywork, health and wellness coaching, or a combination, I'm here to support you to finding your own path to creating an inner healing tree with a more resilient body, mind, and spirit that helps you nourish, move, connect and grow in every aspect of your life. Let's work on helping you feel better about you now while also investing in your future self. Could one session be the spark to change everything?
