Ways to help you feel better every day: mind, body and spirit!
Massage, Rest, and Movement
You probably guessed I would talk about massage and stretching, but I also know full well how important it is to practice what I preach. If you are at home after a long day of being at your desk or on your feet, here are 3 quick and easy ways you can feel better (as a common sense note, if any of these make you hurt more, STOP immediately):
1) Lie down on your back in front of a chair with your legs on the chair so that your hips and knees are both at approximately a 90 degree angle. For 5 or 10 minutes it helps your back and hips re-align after all the pressure you've put them under.
2) Put a tennis ball on the floor and use to massage the bottom of your feet. It allows you to control the pressure and really make your tootsies feel better!
3) Go for a walk. Especially if you've been inactive, your body needs to move a bit and often times the activation of the muscles makes you feel better than just continuing to rest in a recliner.
BONUS) Spinal twist. Lie on your back while on the floor, or bed, and with your knees bent slightly and bottoms of your feet flat on the ground/bed. Let your knees fall to one side of your body while your gaze goes the other direction. (Reminder, if it hurts more, stop.)
